About two years ago, we started to notice a trend with our clients here at Nealon Web Designs. Everyone wanted the ability to update their website on their own, with no help from a web designer. And who can blame them? After years of web design firms (not us) charging outrageous fees for making changes to clients’ websites, in addition to the annoyance of having to contact your web design company every time you wanted to update anything, it is easy to see how that cycle would become tiresome. For some businesses, it was even a reason to abandon their website!
To help meet this demand, Nealon Web Designs started developing our own Content Management System (CMS) that would allow our clients to log in to their websites and make changes themselves. This was a huge hit with not only our current clients, but also allowed us to obtain new clients that found the idea of editing their own website very intriguing. Now, don’t get me wrong, even two years ago a CMS wasn’t anything new. They have been around for some time. However, we were the first web design company in the Pittsburgh area to offer it as a service.
Over the past two years, thanks to feedback from our clients, we have made many improvements to our Content Management System. Some of these changes include:
- A control panel where you can see all of the changes you have made to your site..ever
- The ability to revert back to previous versions of your web site
- The ability for you to add users to your CMS, then tell the system which pages they are allowed to edit.
